Bloom Where Planted
When I was a child my dreams were shunned, scattered to the winds
And returned to me in the suit of a little adult
And hyper vigilance ensued, I was to be mystically clairvoyant
And also color within the lines
And not spill the water on the counter
And not forget to take the meat out of the freezer
And not run outside in freedom in my sock feet
I have parented for so long that a child has given birth to me
And now I’m entering my kingdom of heaven—suckled and sovereign
